Vacation Diary – Diipa Khosla Heads to New York

The fashion blogger extraordinaire tells us about her first ever trip to the Big Apple

She’s only been blogging since last year, but Indian-born Diipa Khosla has been taking the fashion world by storm with her cool, calm and collected looks on Instagram. Diipa recently stayed with us in New York City – and here she tells us about her work and her first time in the Big Apple.

1. When did you first launch your fashion blog?

I launched it first in January 2015, so it hasn’t actually been that long. I actually interned at a Social Media Agency, which is where I got the idea to start my blog. Its been such a whirlwind experience ever since! Very grateful to how far I’ve come in less than just two years.

2. Why do you think it has become so successful?

I honestly believe its because I found a niche to work with and went with it. When I first started there were not that many Indian or Middle eastern fashion and lifestyle bloggers. Therefore, I used that to my advantage and got huge amounts of following from there. Also just being consistent with sharing about your life and engaging with your audience is always a plus.

3. Was it your first trip to NYC?

Yes it was. It was the most magical first trip. NYC was everything I ever imagined and more. I honestly believe living in the gorgeous apartment that over-looked the entire New York skyline was what made it so amazing.

4. What’s your favorite thing about the city?

I absolutely love the energy of the city. People seem to always be in this hurry to get places and do things. Its that energy that makes you want to go go go. The fast paced-ness of the city pumps you up. It makes you want to achieve that “American Dream”.

5. Do you have a favorite shopping tip or store?

I think if you walk down 5th Avenue you can find anything you could ever dream of. That would be the place to be. I would highly advise checking out the Tiffany’s store there. Its so iconic and dreamy.

6. What are your packing essentials?

I never leave without my phone and laptop. Those are my absolute must haves. Apart from that, I always carry my essential skin and hair care products. Makeup wise- A foundation, mascara and lip balm.

7. Do you travel light, or are you always paying extra baggage fees?

It depends on the trip really. If Im just going from London to Amsterdam, I travel light because both places are home and have all my essentials. But if I go to a big trip to a different city, its always over weight! Especially when you travel to a warmer country from a colder country – you have to pack 2 sets of wardrobes.

8. How do you stay in shape on the road?

I always make sure to work out at the gyms in the places I live. No matter how busy or how tired I am. I atleast put in a work our 3 times a week. Another great tip to kill jetlag is to go for a run. This is also a great way to see the city when everyone else is fast asleep.

9. Do you have any travel beauty tips to share?

I love using facial oils, especially at night before I go to bed. You literally wake up with the best skin of your life. Also, I always use sunscreen. Even during the winter, it just helps protect your skin. You will thank yourself later in life for doing this. Drinking a lot of water is also a big must for me.

10. Where are you headed next?

I think I am heading to Abu Dhabi next which is very exciting as it is my first trip in the middle east. After which, I am headed to India, that is going to be amazing as well.
