When it comes to Paris, we’re all for whiling the way the day people watching at a cafe, or lounging by the Seine with a baguette in one hand, cheese in the other. But to go beyond the tourist trail for a glimpse behind the scenes of the impossibly stylish Parisian women who surround you, there’s no better place than the spa. As the flawless skin of these women attests, Paris has no shortage of resources to get your glow on. Here are our four favorite spas the city.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental
Go for: A couples’ spa day
The Mandarin Oriental takes couples’ treatments to the next level with private spa suites to ensure you and your other half can totally unwind in peace. You’ll have your own designated area complete with a changing room, treatment room with heated massage beds, and showers, plus a private vitality pool all to yourself. We recommend opting for the signature Time Ritual treatment, where you simply schedule a block of time to fill with whatever blissful treatments you want. Or, if you’ve traveled through different time zones to reach the city, try the Jet Lag Body Treatment that adjusts your body to Paris’ clock, just in time for pastry hunting and a delicious coffee.
Go for: Radiant skin
Spa NUXE is the locals go-to place for skincare, and when you step inside the double doors you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time, and you’ve finally earned the status of royalty you deserve. Spa NUXE has four locations around the city, each impressive in their own right, but our favorite is Montorgueil. Exposed brick, wood beams and rustic decorative touches give the space a relaxed air, while the menu has all of the right ingredients to ensure you leave this sanctuary feeling totally refreshed (and ready to take on that museum agenda.) At NUXE, we recommend keeping your treatments grassroots and simple; the mineral skin facials will leave you looking radiant. Don’t leave without taking a few of their hydrating Creme Fraiche face creams with you – a magical cream that will make your skin softer than ever.
Dior Institut at Plaza Athenee
Go for: Ultra-glam
Just utter the word Dior and you’ll be transported to a the ultimate in chic Parisian locations. Located in the uber-glam Plaza Athenée Hotel just of off Champs Elysées, the Dior Institut is a tranquil space decked out in warm beiges with touches of soft mauve. Much like Spa Nuxe, the Dior Institut is a world expert in skincare: we recommend trying their Total Radiance Facial to leave with a natural glow all over. And if you want to get dolled up before a big night out on the town, they offer makeup artists services too, of course, using all of the latest Dior products. There are a few Christian Dior touches that take the chic factor to an even higher level: Dior towels, hairbrushes, and a television streaming Dior runway shows in the lobby will remind you you’re in a house of haute couture.
CHANEL Spa at The Ritz Carlton
Go for: Living like Coco
For the past few years, the most iconic hotel in Paris has been undergoing a massive renovation, and its much-anticipated reopening date in June 2016 features a brand new, shiny accessory: the first ever Chanel Spa. We can’t think of a more perfect place for a flagship spa, given The Ritz’s longstanding tradition of welcoming stars from Princess Diana and Audrey Hepburn to Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald, not to mention the fact that Coco Chanel called the hotel home for over three decades. The hotel’s famously luxurious spa area, with a gilded neoclassical swimming pool, sauna and Turkish bath will return new and improved, while the Chanel skincare area will occupy its own designated area, offering treatments from the labels beloved skincare products. Keep your eyes on The Ritz’s homepage for the official spa menu when it’s announced.
